Berthe Jansen has a PhD in Buddhist Studies from Leiden University. She is the author of The Monastery Rules: Buddhist Monastic Organization in Pre-Modern Tibet (2018). Jansen is junior professor of Tibetan Studies at Leipzig University and has a Dutch Government Research Grant to study the entwinement of Buddhism and Law in early modern Tibet at Leiden University. She also is an interpreter and translator of (Buddhist) Tibetan. Her first children’s book, inspired by Buddhist ideas, is set to be published in 2023.
