Nan Ouyang is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Center for Buddhist Studies at Ghent University in Belgium. Her primary area of expertise is late imperial Chinese Buddhism and sacred geography in late imperial China, especially the historical transformation of Mt. Jiuhua as the abode of Dizang Bodhisattva. Her research interests also include modern Chinese Buddhism and digital humanities. Her new research project is about the socialist transformation of Buddhism on Mt. Jiuhua in the Mao era (1949–1978).
