Tina De Gendt obtained in 2004 her master’s degree in history at Ghent University. Afterwards she worked during five years as a journalist for De Morgen. Since 2010 she is active as a freelance historian. On her website, she defines herself as a public historian, writer, speaker, researcher, curator, professional street walker. She has focused most of her work as a public historian on examining the contemporary history of her hometown from a critical and global perspective. Migration, urbanity, heritage, superdiversity and social struggle are recurring themes.
